There's actually a funny story about a German spy trying to purchase all of America's Krag rifles in 1917 in order to both arm the German forces, and to give them to the Mexicans to draw the US into a war with Mexico and thus pull them away from joining the World War. Mexico got tens of thousands for various forces during the revolutions, the Banana wars also saw the majority go. Roughly 250,000-300,000 rifles (out of roughly 450,000 total production) were issued or sold to various forces around the world by the US Ordnance until the 2nd world war, although they were mainly used by Constabulary forces or militia forces in the states. From what I could find even the largest companies, like Bannerman, only pulled in auctions of rifles adding up to 15-20,000 rifles in total through their entire lifetime. It's true that records show tens of thousands being converted by companies such as Bannerman, Stokes Kirk, the NRA etc, but not even close to the majority were converted. Minor nitpicky correction: It wasn't "almost all" that were converted, quite the contrary.
